  1. Am I able to rent a boat w/trailer and take it to Ocklawaha river for a few days. My son and I are camping near by the dam and wanted to rent a boat in Fl instead of dragging our boat from WI for a few days. Call me plz if you have any questions. 920 370 1352

  2. Hello,
How big are the motor boats? Would they be big enough to fit 2 people and a small 60qt cooler?
    Let me know, thank you

    1. They are stumpknockers which can hold up to 6 people with plenty of floor room. Two people can fit very comfortably in one.

    1. We will, but the water is currently too low for motors. No need to reserve in advance, we have plenty of vessels, but you may want to call before you stop by to make sure we have everything ready for you.

    1. The water is too low for motors at the moment, but we offer the same boats with paddles and push poles. We launch on the creek that leads to Newnan’s. It is about a 5 minute paddle to the lake.

    1. Unfortunately the water is still too low for motorboats. We are still renting canoes, kayaks and stump-knockers with push-polls, though.

  3. I appreciate, cause I discovered just what I used to be looking for. You have ended my four day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day.

  4. Looking to rent a couple of kayaks or a canoe to transport to Payne’s Prairie for a day or two, are you open on Friday?

  5. Hi, I hope I’m reaching Kate’s fish camp. My husband and I are planning on arriving there on April 26th, and plan to stay at least 1 to 2 weeks with y’all. Do you guys have a spot for a tent available?

    1. We alway have plenty of room for tent campers. We ask you to get here before dark and to leave the property like you found it. 🙂

  6. My family would like to come for Memorial Day and rent a motor boat if the water levels are high enough.

Otherwise, we’d need canoes to accommodate the 5 of us for fishing.

    Is the water level up?
Do you have availability of motor boats and/or canoes?

    1. Normally we only allow people to rent them during the day, but we can make special exceptions for people who have good reason to rent them after dark, provided they bring a floodlight.

Unfortunately, though, the creek is much too low right now for any sort of water vessels.

  7. How are the water levels now after all this rain? Are motor boat rentals available now? Just looking for a little stump knocker to kick around the lake….

    1. We rent regular kayaks, regular canoes and baitwell stumpknockers. Currently we are closed due to floods from hurricane irma, however.

  8. We are hoping to come Saturday the 17th of March and check out Monday the 19th. Tent camping, We are from the gville area, Have 2 families, 12 people total. We would like to rent 2-3 boats to go out on Sunday. I see you don’t do motors anymore, is the water level good? And how is the fishing in the areas accessible from the camp?
Also do we need to call and pay in advance? Either way we would like to check your availability those dates.

    1. That sounds fantastic! The water level is wonderful right now. If it’s going to be cold, fishing may be slow so try to fish around midday! You can reserve a campsite near the water if you call us. No need to pay in advance, just give us your name, party size, and check in date. Tent campers are always welcome!

  9. Hey guys! I’m hoping to be seeing y’all around my spring break next week. Do I have to pay to launch my own boat/ park there? I’m also considering camping out there for a night to break in my new tent. Do you guys have maps of cool stuff to check out by kayak on the lake? TIA

    1. Launching is $2 per vessel, but if you’re camping it’s free.
We have small maps of the lake and surrounding area.
The usual points of interest on the lake are Palm Point Nature Park and Earl P. Powers Park.

  10. Is there a maximum size boat that can safelybbe put in the water there. ie… Bass boat? Easy acess to Lake Newnan?

    1. It is a huge lake and we do have access. There is a large concrete boat ramp at a park just 1/2 mile from here.

  11. If I rent a kayak tomorrow, will I be able to fish from the kayak? If not, are there areas to fish from the shore?

    1. Yes, and yes! The Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail is right next to us and has a large area to fish from.
